Installation

Inside or Outside Mount — Mount the Installation Brackets

  • Measure and mark 2 1/2" in from each jamb for bracket location.
  • If more than two installation brackets came with your order, space additional bracket(s) on studs, evenly between the two end brackets and mark their location.
  • Mark the location of the screw holes by the brackets on the previously made marks. IMPORTANT: The brackets must be level and aligned to each other.
  • Use a 3/32" drill bit to drill holes for the screws. IMPORTANT: If you are fastening the installation brackets to drywall, be sure to use wall anchors and follow the instructions provided with the anchors. (Anchors not provided.)
  • Use a level to check that the mounting surface is level. Shim the brackets if necessary. (Shims not provided.)
  • Peel back the protective covering from the top and endcaps of the headrail. Leave the rest of the protective covering on the front of the headrail.
  • Install brackets by sliding the headrail into the groove inside the front lip of the bracket and then push towards back of the brackets until snaps into place.
  • Completely remove the protective covering from the headrail.

Attach the Universal Cord Tensioner

Before operating the blind, you must attach the UCT (Universal Cord Tensioner) to the wall or the window frame. Slide the cord tensioner to the bottom of the cord loop.

  • Insert a small screwdriver, punch, or awl through the screw hole at the bottom of the cord tensioner.
  • Move the screw hole down to the indicator line to release the safety mechanism.
  • Slide the cord tensioner down to the bottom of the cord loop.
  • Install the window covering and use the instruction provided to secure the cord tensioner to the window casement.

For complete UCT installation, see the instructions provided

  • WARNING: It is imperative that the cord tensioner be properly secured to the wall or window frame to reduce children’s access to the cord loop. Young children can strangle in cord loops. They can also wrap cords around their necks and strangle.
  • CAUTION: The shading will not operate properly unless the cord tensioner is secured. A cord tensioner installation kit has been included with your shading. Follow the instructions in the kit to correctly secure the cord tensioner.

Operate the Shade

To Lower The Shade

  • Hold the back of the beaded chain loop and pull down.
  • Pull until the shade is at the desired height.

To Raise The Shade

  • Push the front of the horizontal shading and then bring forward.

Troubleshooting

Each woven wood shade has a very unique style, composed of a variety of natural materials originating from many points across the world: bamboo, reeds, jute, rattan, grasses, and woods. Slight imperfections and variations in color are all part of the natural beauty of this type of product and should not be considered flaws. Due to the woven construction of your shade, materials may have shifted slightly during shipping. Use the guidelines below to realign your shade. If you have any questions, call your dealer for advice.

Adjusting the Bottom Rail Weight

  • Release the weight clips by inserting a flat blade screwdriver into the weight clip and turning clockwise.

  • Move the weight in 1" increments toward the side where the fabric is gathering.

  • Secure the weight clips in position by turning them counterclockwise after making the adjustment.
  • Test and, if necessary, adjust again.

Care Instructions

  • Dusting: Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning that is needed in most circumstances.
  • Vacuuming: Use the soft brush head of the vacuum cleaner on low setting for a more thorough dust removal.
  • Spot Cleaning: Prepare a solution of lukewarm water and mild detergent if needed. Dampen a clean cloth or towel in the solution and wring thoroughly. Dab the spot with the dampened cloth until spot is removed. Do not rub or soak the fabric. Do not spot-clean anything other than the fabric covered headrail on horizontal shadings. Allow the shade to dry in completely lowered position. Spot-cleaning may result in cleaner areas.

Horizontal shadings are made of 100% polyester, which means they are inherently durable and resilient. However, care must be taken to avoid wrinkling the fabric, particularly where the vanes meet the facings.

  • Fabric Covered Headrail: Spot-clean the headrail using a sponge or delicate cloth, cool distilled water and a mild soap solution; handle with care as you would any fine fabric.
  • Forced Air: Blow away dirt and debris between the vanes using clean compressed air.
  • Ultrasonic Cleaning: Horizontal shadings can be ultrasonically cleaned by a professional, with the exception of the of the Light Dimming fabrics.
  • Light Dimming fabrics: Specify that a mild detergent solution be used. Never immerse the headrail in the solution. Dry the shading completely in the lowered position.
  • Injection/Extraction: Horizontal shadings can be professionally cleaned using the injection/extraction method. Use only the dry method of injection/extraction Light Dimming fabrics. Never immerse the headrail in the solution.
  • Electrostatic Cleaning: DO NOT use electrostatic cleaning wipes on any horizontal shadings.

Deluxe Installation Instructions

Tools you will need

  1. Power drill
  2. Pliers
  3. Measuring tape
  4. Screwdriver
  5. Level
  6. Pencil
  7. Step stool

Mounting hardware kit includes the following:

  • Mounting Brackets 3 (shades up to 24" to 60" wide) 4 (shades 60" to 90" wide) 5 (shades over 90" wide)
  • 1-1/4" Screws 2 per bracket & cord guide
  • Wall Anchors for Cord Guide 2 Wall Anchors

Step 1. Installation

Your blind may be installed either inside the window frame or outside the window frame.

For Inside Mounting

One bracket should be positioned about 2" to 6" from each end of the head rail. The other bracket(s) should be spaced evenly between the two outermost brackets.

Attach each bracket to the inner top of the window opening using the screws provided. Pre-drill the screw holes using a 5/64" drill bit.

For flush inside mounts, attach the brackets to the head rail first (see drawings and attachment instructions below), and then position the shade in the window opening as desired. Then make pencil marks at the back of each bracket. Align the brackets with the pencil marks, and then screw them in place as described above.

For Outside Mounting

Attach the Brackets to the wall or window framing. One bracket should be positioned about 2" to 6" from each end of the head rail. The other bracket(s) should be spaced evenly between the two outermost brackets. Pre-drill the screw holes using a 5/64" drill bit. The brackets must be level — use a level if necessary to assure proper alignment.

Step 2. Securing the Head Rail

Position the head rail so that the ridge on the top-front of the head rail fits into the front of the bracket as illustrated, and then push upward until the metal tabs on the back of the bracket snap onto the back of the head rail.

Step 3. Attach the Safety Cord Guide

The cord guide must be attached per these instructions in order for your shade to function properly. The Cord Guide is pre-attached to the Cord Control, and must be attached inside or outside the window opening, to the window frame or wall as you prefer.

The base of the Cord Guide can be attached vertically, horizontally or at an angle. Note that the 'U' shaped guide that the chain passes through swivels and can be set in any position to facilitate smooth operation.

Attach the Cord Guide with the 1-1/4" screws provided. Pre-drill the screw holes using a 3/32" drill bit if mounting to a solid surface. If the Cord Guide is attached to hollow drywall, please use the wall anchors provided. Use a 1/4" drill bit to drill the holes for the anchors.

DO NOT PUT TENSION ON THE CORD/BEAD CHAIN!

Install the Cord Guide such that the cord hangs loosely — this optimizes the performance of the clutch, and assures that the Cord Connector will pass through the Cord Guide with relative ease. DO NOT twist or cross the control cord/bead chain. In order to position the base properly, adjust the cord so that the Cord Guide is at the bottom of the cord loop and let it hang freely. Compress the spring by hand so that the chain moves freely through the 'U' channel. Hold the tension device and the bracket against the window frame or wall and then move it upward at least ¼" - mark the position of the bracket (mark the location of the screw holes with a pencil). Insert and secure two screws through the holes in the base of the Cord Guide.

Step 4. How to Operate

To raise or lower the shade and tilt the fabric vanes, pull the lift cord. The front cord closes the fabric vanes and lifts the shade. The rear cord lowers the shade and opens the fabric vanes.
